Sing Your Pain Away!
Singing for Wellbeing, Health and Fun
Freelance P/T Singing Group Leader Wanted - Surrey (Camberley area)
Deadline:18th October 2024
Sing Your Pain Away is a well-established successful provider of singing groups focusing on singing for wellbeing, health and fun. We currently run 12 singing groups in the Home Counties.
A typical group will have around 10 to 20 participants and the groups vary between community classes that are open to all, and more specialist classes that we run on behalf of various charities to support their beneficiaries, such as Dementia choirs and Carers choirs.
Due to expansion we are now looking for a part-time freelance singing group leader to join the Sing Your Pain Away team. You need to live within a 30 minute drive of Camberley as this is where you will be delivering sessions for us.
Full training will be given and as such we welcome applications from community musicians, teachers and other professionals who would like to dip their toe in the water with singing for health. You don’t need to play an instrument as we use backing tracks, but you do need to be able to read music and be a competent sight reader. Most importantly you need to have great people skills, an enthusiastic uplifting manner and a good sense of fun.
We supply all resources including a lesson plan for each session, song words for participants, sheet music for you the leader, backing tracks for all songs and advice and support. All administration is handled centrally, so you can focus purely on delivering a fun, uplifting session to the participants.
This is an incredibly fulfilling and rewarding role for someone with an interest in community music/singing for health. It fits well into a self-employed portfolio career and the time commitment can start from as little as one hour per week of session delivery. Payment for session delivery will be in line with MU recommended rates.
